How I Started Scrapbooking
I loved doing crafts and I just figured scrapbooking wasn’t much different. It all started when I fell in love with a boy. I was 15 and a freshmen in high school. I asked him to a “Sadie’s Hawkins” dance. He was the first boy I had ever asked out. I thought to myself…Girls don’t ask boys to dances. Needless to say in order to go to this dance I either had to ask him or I wasn’t going. I eventually asked him to the dance and later down the road we started dating. One day I found a bunch of pictures we had taken together. I decided to start my first scrapbook. I had no idea where to start. I searched high and low around my house for useful things such as stickers, ribbon, paper, and so forth. I wanted an album that would remind me of all of our fun events, dances, and vacations we went on. I knew I wanted something that looked fun and reminded me of the great times we shared. A plain photo album just didn’t do the trick. After finishing my first scrapbook I was so proud of what I had accomplished. I enjoyed the process of making my scrapbook so much that I read about it in magazines, watched how-to videos, and purchased more scrapbooking supplies.
Years Later I looked back at my first scrapbook and could not believe my eyes. It did not look as beautiful as I remembered. It looked pretty silly. With all the memories I had with my boyfriend I had to recreate the scrapbook and make it much better then what I knew before. I wish I would have saved it and started a 2nd one. I learned that your personal scrapbooks are not always about how they look. It’s about the memories inside that you preserve and hold dear to your heart. My boyfriend proposed to me November of 2008. We Married in March of 2010. I am so pleased to watch my scrapbooks grow. To know my career all started with a boy. I am thankful for him and the knowledge I know now. My site is designed to inspire others to scrapbook.
